Questions people ask

Is Longines a good watch brand?
Yes, and it's one of the best-value Swiss luxury brands you can buy. Longines has made watches since 1832, according to Goldsmiths, and its automatics come with a 5-year guarantee. A Longines Conquest gives you a 72-hour power reserve and 100 metres of water resistance for under £2,000.
Is Longines a luxury brand?
Yes. It sits at the start of Swiss luxury: above Tissot and Hamilton, and below Omega and Breitling. Most Longines watches at Goldsmiths are between about £1,200 and £4,000.
Is Longines Swiss-made?
Yes. Longines is a Swiss brand, and Goldsmiths' descriptions refer to its Swiss watchmaking expertise.
Longines vs Tissot: which should I buy?
Tissot if your budget is under £1,000; Longines if you can stretch to £1,500 or more. Longines gives you finer finishing and a 5-year guarantee on its automatics, against Tissot's 2 years, according to Goldsmiths. See our Swiss watches under £1,000 for the best Tissots.
Longines vs TAG Heuer: which is better?
For the money, Longines. A 72-hour Longines Conquest costs less than most TAG Heuer automatics. TAG Heuer is sportier and better known for chronographs. See our best TAG Heuer watches.
Longines vs Omega: is Omega worth the extra?
Omega costs roughly two to three times as much and gives you Master Chronometer certification and a bigger name. Longines gives you most of the everyday quality for far less. See our best Omega watches.
Is the Longines HydroConquest a good watch?
Yes. The HydroConquest 39mm is water resistant to 300 metres, has a silicon balance spring and up to 72 hours of power reserve, and comes with a 5-year guarantee. It's our favourite Rolex Submariner alternative: see our Rolex alternatives.
What is the best Longines watch for women?
The PrimaLuna Automatic if you want an automatic, or the Mini DolceVita for a rectangular dress watch. The DolceVita was introduced in 1997, according to Goldsmiths.
