Which TAG Heuer Aquaracer to buy: Professional 200 vs 300, Solargraph, GMT and more (2026)

The Aquaracer is TAG Heuer's dive watch, and the names don't make the choice easy: Professional 100, 200, 300 and 500, solar or automatic, 28mm to 42mm. This is what each one is, the differences that matter, and which to buy.

For most people, the best Aquaracer is the Professional 300: TAG Heuer's COSC-certified TH31-00 automatic, with an 80-hour power reserve, in a 42mm case with a ceramic bezel. For less money and no fuss, the Professional 200 Solargraph, powered by light. For travellers, the Professional 300 GMT.

How we chose

We went through every Aquaracer Goldsmiths has in stock and compared the movements, power reserves, sizes and water resistance, using Goldsmiths' product descriptions. TAG Heuer's own website couldn't be read automatically, so every fact here is from Goldsmiths, the authorised retailer. The Aquaracer range explained

According to Goldsmiths, the Aquaracer collection was re-launched in 2021. The number after "Professional" is the water resistance in metres.

Aquaracer Size Movement Water resistance From
Professional 200 Solargraph 40mm or 34mm Solar quartz (TH50) 200 m £2,150
Professional 200 40mm Calibre 5 automatic 200 m £2,800
Professional 300 42mm TH31-00 automatic, COSC, 80 hours 300 m £3,650
Professional 300 GMT 42mm TH31-03 automatic GMT, COSC, 80 hours 300 m £4,050
Professional 300 (women's) 36mm Calibre 5 automatic 300 m £3,700
Professional 100 Solargraph 28mm Solar quartz (TH51-00) 100 m £2,550
Professional 500 42mm titanium TH30-00 automatic, COSC 500 m £4,550

"From" is the least expensive version at Goldsmiths when we checked. Movements and water resistance are from Goldsmiths' listings and descriptions.

Professional 200 or Professional 300?

The number tells you the water resistance, but the real difference is the movement.

  • Professional 300: TAG Heuer's TH31-00 automatic, which Goldsmiths describes as COSC-certified, with an 80-hour power reserve, in a 42mm case with a ceramic bezel. Take it off on Friday and it's still running on Monday.
  • Professional 200 automatic: the Calibre 5, in a 40mm case. Goldsmiths' descriptions give the Calibre 5 a much shorter power reserve, between 30 and 38 hours depending on the description, so it can stop overnight if you don't wear it.
  • Professional 200 Solargraph: a quartz movement charged by light, in 40mm or 34mm. Nothing to wind, no battery to change.

Our advice: for an automatic, go straight to the Professional 300: a COSC-certified movement with an 80-hour power reserve is worth the extra over the Calibre 5. For the simplest everyday watch, buy the Solargraph.

The best Aquaracer overall: Professional 300

Goldsmiths' description calls it "engineered for deep-sea exploration": a 42mm stainless steel case, a blue "wavy" dial, a ceramic bezel and an automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve, water resistant to 300 metres.

The best value Aquaracer: Professional 200 Solargraph

This 40mm version uses the Calibre TH50-00 and is water resistant to 200 metres.

Smallest of all is the 28mm Professional 100 Solargraph, water resistant to 100 metres.

For serious divers: Professional 500

The most extreme Aquaracer. Goldsmiths' description says it's water resistant to 500 metres, in a 42mm Grade 2 titanium case, with the COSC-certified Calibre TH30-00 and a helium escape valve for saturation diving. It's a limited edition.

Questions people ask

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 or 300: which should I buy?
The number is the water resistance in metres, but the bigger difference is inside. The Professional 300 uses the TH31-00 automatic with an 80-hour power reserve, in a 42mm case with a ceramic bezel. The Professional 200 is 40mm and comes either as a Solargraph, powered by light, or as an automatic with the Calibre 5. If you want an automatic, the Professional 300 is worth the extra; if you want an easy everyday watch, the Professional 200 Solargraph.
Is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer automatic or battery?
Both, depending on the model. The Professional 300 and the Professional 200 automatic are automatic. The Solargraph models have a quartz movement charged by light, and the Aquaracer chronograph is quartz.
How long does a TAG Heuer Solargraph last?
According to Goldsmiths' description of the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph, two minutes of light powers it for a whole day, and a full charge keeps it running for up to 10 months, even in the dark.
Is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer COSC certified?
The Professional 300 and 500 are. Goldsmiths' descriptions call the Professional 300's Calibre TH31-00, the Professional 300 GMT's TH31-03 and the Professional 500's TH30-00 COSC-certified. The Professional 200 and the Solargraphs aren't described as chronometers.
Is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer waterproof?
Yes: it's a dive watch. The Professional 100 is water resistant to 100 metres, the Professional 200 to 200 metres, the Professional 300 to 300 metres and the Professional 500 to 500 metres.
Is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer a good watch?
Yes. It's a Swiss dive watch from a famous name, and Goldsmiths lists a five-year TAG Heuer guarantee on most Aquaracers. The Professional 300, with its 80-hour automatic, is the best of them for the money.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer or Longines HydroConquest?
The HydroConquest is the better value: a Swiss automatic diver with a 72-hour power reserve for less. The Aquaracer gives you more choice, including solar and titanium, and the Professional 300's 80-hour automatic. See which Longines HydroConquest to buy.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer or Omega Seamaster?
The Seamaster Diver 300M is the step up, with Omega's Master Chronometer certification, at a higher price. See which Omega Seamaster to buy.
