DOXA Sub 300 vs Sub 300T: what's the difference, and which to buy? (2026)

They look almost the same, both are 42.5mm, and both come in the same colours, from the orange Professional to the black Sharkhunter. But the Sub 300 and the Sub 300T are different watches underneath, and one costs £700 more. This is what you get for the money, and which one to buy, using DOXA's own specifications.

The short answer: buy the Sub 300 if you can, for its COSC-certified chronometer movement, domed crystal and beads of rice bracelet. Buy the Sub 300T if you'd rather save £700, or if you like the idea of a watch rated to 1,200 metres.

Every watch here is sold new by Goldsmiths, a UK authorised DOXA retailer. Prices are Goldsmiths' own on the date shown, and they matched DOXA's own UK prices when we checked.

How we chose

We read DOXA's own UK product pages for the Sub 300 and Sub 300T, and Goldsmiths' descriptions of every DOXA in stock. Where DOXA doesn't give a figure, we say so rather than guess. We earn a commission if you buy through our links, which never changes the price you pay.

What's the difference?

Water resistance and the helium valve. This is the biggest difference on paper. DOXA rates the Sub 300 at 30 bar (300 metres) and the Sub 300T at 120 bar (1,200 metres), and the 300T has a helium release valve. DOXA says the 1968 SUB 300T Conquistador was the first diver's watch for the general public with one. In practice, both are far more than any swimmer or recreational diver will need.

The movement. DOXA describes the Sub 300's self-winding movement as a COSC-certified chronometer, with a 38-hour power reserve. Its page for the 300T doesn't say it's certified.

The crystal and bracelet. DOXA says the Sub 300's sapphire crystal has the same domed shape as the plexiglass on the 1967 original, and it comes on DOXA's "beads of rice" bracelet with a wetsuit extension. The 300T has a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, on a steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

The history. The Sub 300 is based on the original 1967 SUB, which DOXA says was the first purpose-designed diver's watch for the general public, and the first with a one-way bezel showing both dive time and depth for no-decompression dives. The Sub 300T is based on the 1968 SUB 300T Conquistador. Both have that bezel.

The best DOXA overall: Sub 300 Professional

The Sub 300 in orange, the colour DOXA made famous. DOXA says the orange dial of the 1967 original greatly improved readability underwater. The case is 42.5mm and 13.4mm high, with a date at 3 o'clock and a 20mm lug width, according to DOXA.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between the DOXA Sub 300 and Sub 300T?
The Sub 300 is water resistant to 300 metres, has a COSC-certified chronometer movement with a 38-hour power reserve, a domed sapphire crystal and the 'beads of rice' bracelet, according to DOXA. The Sub 300T is water resistant to 1,200 metres and has a helium release valve for professional saturation divers, and it costs £700 less at Goldsmiths. Both are 42.5mm.
DOXA Sub 300 or 300T: which should I buy?
For most people, the Sub 300: the chronometer movement, the domed crystal and the beads of rice bracelet make it the more special watch, and 300 metres is far more than you'll ever need. If you'd rather spend less, or you like the idea of 1,200 metres and a helium valve, the Sub 300T is the better value.
Is the DOXA Sub 300T a chronometer?
DOXA describes the Sub 300's movement as a COSC-certified chronometer. Its page for the standard Sub 300T, which we read in October 2026, doesn't say the 300T is certified, so we wouldn't assume it is.
What do DOXA's colour names mean?
They name the dial colour. The Professional is orange, the Sharkhunter is black and the Caribbean is blue; Goldsmiths also sells the 300T in Aquamarine (blue) and Sea Emerald (green). DOXA's own range also includes Searambler, Divingstar and Whitepearl.
Why are DOXA dials orange?
DOXA says the orange dial of the original 1967 SUB greatly improved readability underwater. The orange version is called the Professional.
Do I need a helium release valve?
Only if you're a professional saturation diver living in a pressurised chamber. For swimming, snorkelling and recreational diving, it makes no difference.
Is DOXA a good watch brand?
Yes. DOXA is best known for dive watches, and it says its 1967 SUB was the first purpose-designed diver's watch for the general public. Goldsmiths, a UK authorised retailer, sells the current range new.

How we write these guides: every watch is one you can buy new from a UK authorised retailer. Prices and specifications come from the retailer's own product page, and anything extra comes from the brand's website. We check prices and stock every morning, but they can change, so the retailer's page always has the final word. No brand or retailer pays to appear.
