The best luxury jewellery brand depends on your budget. Under £1,000, Gucci and Georg Jensen have the most to choose from; around £2,000 to £4,000, Chopard, Messika, Pomellato and Roberto Coin make the famous pieces; and at the top, Fope and Fabergé. Our pick of one piece from each is below.

Every piece here is sold new by Goldsmiths, a UK authorised retailer, at Goldsmiths' own price on the date shown.

How we chose

We went through the designer jewellery Goldsmiths has in stock, nearly 1,900 pieces from 20 brands, and compared what each brand sells, what it typically costs, and what it's known for. What each brand is known for comes from the brands' own descriptions at Goldsmiths. We earn a commission if you buy through our links, which never changes the price you pay.

Fred, Roberto Coin, Pasquale Bruni and Annoushka

  • Roberto Coin: Italian craftsmanship; Love in Verona is inspired by the city of Romeo and Juliet.
  • Pasquale Bruni: founded in 1968 by Pasquale Bruni, and made in Valenza, Italy's gold district. The Petit Joli necklace's Blue Moon gem is a doublet of white agate and lapis lazuli.
  • Annoushka: handcrafted gold; the Eclipse hoops are solid 18ct gold with brown diamonds.

Mappin & Webb

Mappin & Webb's jewellery reflects a legacy of British craftsmanship, and its Ena Harkness collection is overseen by its Master Craftsman and Crown Jeweller, Mark Appleby LVO, according to Goldsmiths. Its Gossamer collection includes these baguette diamond huggies in 18ct yellow gold, H colour and SI clarity.

Good to know before you buy

  • Single earrings: some designer earrings at Goldsmiths, from Chopard, Fred, Repossi and Maria Tash, are sold as one earring, not a pair. The name says "single" or "Earring".
  • Parts sold separately: Fred's Force 10 buckles are sold without the cable, and some Annoushka and AMOR pendants without a chain. The description says so; every piece in this guide is complete.
  • Goldsmiths' extended Christmas returns, which we read in October 2026, cover items bought between 1 October 2026 and 3 January 2027, if unused and in their original packaging, with proof of purchase. Always check Goldsmiths' own page before you order.

More 18ct gold jewellery, £1,000 to £3,000

12 more from Goldsmiths, from £1,100 to £2,980. Prices and details are Goldsmiths' own; we haven't written about these ones in detail.

How we write these guides: every piece of jewellery is one you can buy new from a UK authorised retailer. Prices and specifications come from the retailer's own product page, and anything extra comes from the brand's website. We check prices and stock every morning, but they can change, so the retailer's page always has the final word. No brand or retailer pays to appear.
